Probiotic may help with COVID recovery: Study

A new study, published in the journal Gut Microbes, suggests that taking a capsule of probiotics, designed to enhance the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut, may hasten recovery from COVID-19 infection.

In the study, around 300 COVID-19 patients, aged 16 to 60 years, who did not need hospital treatment were included. Half of the patients received a probiotic capsule while the other half received a placebo. Researchers noted that 53% of the patients who received the probiotic were clear of COVID symptoms within a month, compared to 28% of those receiving the placebo. Additionally, patients taking the probiotic capsule were also found to have a lower viral load… (ET Healthworld – IANS, February 23, 2022)
